A happy March shoot

Posted on March 12, 2011 by admin

Sundaye and Jon were a blast to photograph.  In addition to being fun, they were BOTH positively striking.  The shoot consisted of me, a lovely assistant, and Joe who shot some video.  I fell in love with Bryant park as a natural backdrop for photography shoots, which once again confirmed my belief that backgrounds need to be 'real'. They need to have a depth and texture (sometimes even color).  I'm sure that studio backdrops serve some purpose too, but a real-life background adds so much character to an image.  Besides, you can always blow out a background by directing a little more light on it to achieve the white wall look, or make it go dark or black by underexposing it.   Anyway, we got lucky and the weather was gorgeous.   I think the pictures tell the story of the day pretty well

This is a cute photo shoot. How did you come up with the idea?

Thanks! The couple wanted a “kissing in NYC” series of photos to hang in their new home… it was a love story shoot : )
